Terms of Service
Last updated: August 28, 2026
1. The service
PDFNinja provides free, browser-based PDF tools. Unless you use the optional AI or eSignature features, your documents are processed locally on your own device and are never uploaded to our servers. By using the service you agree to these terms.
2. Acceptable use
You agree not to use PDFNinja to:
- Process or transmit content that is illegal, infringing, or fraudulent.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service or its infrastructure.
- Redact, tamper with, or misrepresent legally significant documents in a way that misleads others.
- Use the AI features to process content you lack the right to send to an AI provider.
3. No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. While we work hard to process documents correctly, we do not guarantee that output is error-free, that formatting will be perfectly preserved, or that any tool will suit your specific purpose.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PDFNinja shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the service — including loss of data, loss of profits, or damage to documents. Because core tools run locally, you are responsible for keeping backup copies of any documents you process.
5. AI features (your own key)
AI tools require your own API key and send document text or audio to the AI provider you choose. You are solely responsible for the key, any costs it incurs, the content you send, and compliance with the provider's terms and privacy policy. We act only as a relay and are not responsible for provider availability, errors, or content policies.
6. eSignature
eSignatures produced through PDFNinja are intended to be legally valid where electronic signatures are permitted. You are responsible for obtaining consent from signers, keeping records required by law, and verifying the identity of signers. Documents and signer details are stored securely while an envelope is active and can be deleted on request. PDFNinja is not a substitute for qualified legal advice regarding the validity of a signature in your jurisdiction.
7. Intellectual property
The PDFNinja software, branding, and content are protected by copyright and other laws. The PDF processing engines we use are open-source (pdf.js, pdf-lib, Ghostscript) and are used under their respective licenses. You retain all rights to the documents you process.
8. Changes & contact
We may update these terms from time to time; changes take effect when posted. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated terms. Questions can be sent to privacy@pdfninja.app.
