All processing runs locally — nothing is uploaded
Renders each page at up to 2.5× for a pixel-perfect background, then overlays invisible text — searchable, copyable, zero visual diff.
PDF image objects extracted via CTM-corrected bounding boxes — not screenshots. Preserves original image quality and placement.
Multi-column detection, line merging with gap-based space insertion, font bold/italic parsing, and text classification (title/heading/body).
Lines, rectangles, and fills extracted from PDF graphics operators and rebuilt as native PowerPoint shapes with proper stroke and fill.
Hybrid for best balance, Editable for full native reconstruction, Render for guaranteed visual match at any zoom level.
Background colour sampled from page corners using luminance-based contrast decisions so overlay text always stays legible.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which engine should I pick?
Hybrid is the default — it looks identical to the PDF and the text is still searchable and copyable. Pick Editable if you want to actually rewrite the content. Pick Render if you only care about the picture.
Will fonts survive?
Editable mode maps to Calibri and preserves bold detection. Hybrid mode preserves the exact glyph rendering because it uses the rendered page as the slide background.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Hybrid and Render modes work perfectly. Editable mode needs a real text layer — run our OCR tool first if the PDF is a scan.
Why is auto slide size the default?
PDF pages are usually A4 or Letter portrait — forcing them into 16:9 leaves ugly bars. Auto uses the PDF's own aspect ratio for zero cropping.
Is anything uploaded?
No. PDF.js parses your file in the browser, pptxgenjs writes the .pptx locally, then it downloads directly. Nothing touches a server.
