Frequently Asked Questions
What is OCR?
Optical Character Recognition reads the pixels of a scanned page and produces machine-readable text. We overlay that text as an invisible layer aligned with the image, so search and copy/paste work while the page still looks like the original scan.
Which languages are supported?
13 built-in scripts including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese Simplified, Japanese, Korean, and Russian. Auto-detect uses English as a fallback baseline.
How accurate is it?
Clean 300 DPI scans typically hit 95–99% word accuracy for Latin scripts. Faxes, handwriting, and skewed pages will be lower. We preprocess every page with contrast sharpening to squeeze out extra accuracy.
Will the output look like the original?
Yes. We embed the original page image at full resolution and layer the recognised text invisibly on top. The document looks identical but is fully searchable.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Every step — rendering, preprocessing, OCR, PDF assembly — runs in your browser via WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to a server.
